Children of the Night Diana Tregard is working in a small Craft store in New York City when she gets an unexpected visitor, a young Gypsy boy with a great amount of magical power, running from someone. Soon after the boy leaves, another unexpected visitor appears, this one a Frenchman, seemingly looking for the same boy. And then the boy turns up dead in an alley behind Diana's apartment. 
Burning Water Di Tregard is unofficially investigating a string of seemingly related cow mutilations and murders for a friend of hers in Texas, the official reason for her being there being gathering material for her new book, when she discovers that someone is trying to bring back a religion. And a god. And this god isn't very friendly. 
Jinx High Diana is visiting her old friend in Oklahoma after he calls her to appear as a guest in his son't writing class. When she gets there Di discovers young Deke Kestrel covered in the magical "fingerprints" of a mage practicing blood magic. Not only Deke it turns out. His entire high school reeks of blood magic.
